Share Your Voice on The Conversation with Al McFarlane

The Conversation with Al McFarlane is a trusted community platform that centers honest dialogue, real stories, and solutions that matter—especially within the African American community.

We are inviting individuals and professionals to be part of a thoughtful, respectful conversation about gambling, recovery, prevention, and healing.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • An individual willing to share a personal story related to gambling, recovery, or supporting a loved one

  • A gambling prevention or treatment professional

  • A mental health provider, financial counselor, researcher, or community leader

  • An advocate working at the intersection of wellness, equity, and community education

You do not need to have all the answers—just a willingness to speak honestly and help others feel less alone.

The Healing Circle: Gambling is More than a Man's Game

This conversation brings lived experience to the forefront. Christina Cook and Terra Carbert share honest, personal stories of how problem gambling affected their lives and families. Susan Sheridan Tucker, Executive Director of the Minnesota Alliance on Problem Gambling (MNAPG), adds practical guidance on prevention, support, and treatment resources. Hosted by Al McFarlane, CEO of McFarlane Media Interests, with co-host Dr. BraVada Garrett-Akinsanya, Executive Director of the African American Child Wellness Institute.
